Jerusalem: Surprisingly the Best City for Celiacs in Israel

As a celiac who also lived in Jerusalem for eight years, these are the places I would go based on occasion with real addresses so you can actually use this list.

A Gluten Free Kosher NYC Guide

As someone who’s both celiac and keeps kosher, I’ve done the legwork (and a lot of taste-testing) to find the gems that don’t just “make do,” but absolutely deliver.

This bar is one of the only bars in the world that This bar is one of the only bars in the world that distills all of its alcohol in house. This is @drinkeria_house and it’s located in Pardes Hana. (And yes, it’s kosher!)
@noam_hass is one of the masterminds behind this incredible bar and it makes total sense because he was awarded Israel’s top barman.
The menu is nostalgic, with nods to the Israeli home kitchen like their lemonade cocktail, Crystal Menta, and spike hot chocolate. The food menu also features Israeli staples alongside traditional comfort foods and everything is done just right. Prices for both drinks and food range from 35-60 shekels and it’s the perfect place to go as a group of friends and order the whole menu to share.
I could not recommend this place more. It’s located in the Shuk Hayashan in Pardes Hana and worth all the hype.

A little behind the scenes look at a day in my lif A little behind the scenes look at a day in my life as a freelance social media manager ft a roadtrip with @adeenasussman and @regrow_il up north.
With stops at @frishtik.cafe and @galilmountain_winery 🍷
This incredible new cafe opened in December in the This incredible new cafe opened in December in the Jezreel Valley and their menu changes everyday based on the produce available from their fields and local farmers.
Located inside @derechatavlinim is the new and improved @cider_spicefarm cafeteria. On Sunday through Thursday they offer a selection of delicious farm to table dishes featuring the highest quality ingredients like local cheeses and spices from their spice shop.
While I can’t give too many recommendations on what to order as it changes daily, I could not recommend the chili tomato jam and seasoned butter more !! Also the seasonal salad with homemade vinaigrette.
The cafe is located in Beit Lechem HaGlilit and don’t forget to stock up on freshly ground spices while you’re there.
**** The cafe is dairy only but open on Shabbat. However, it works in a totally different format with an entirely different menu and staff. Thus there is no teudat kashrut but the food during the week is totally different and every ingredient is kosher and the staff are makpid on following Halacha including maaser.
This is by far one of the best sushi dinners we ha This is by far one of the best sushi dinners we have ever had in Israel, and honestly I’m not surprised. The chef, Akki-San, is a fourth generation sushi master from Japan who has been in the kitchen since he was just 12 years old helping out at his parents restaurant. He’s lived in Israel for 30 years now and brought traditional methods to Israeli flavors.
They are also truly fantastic about gluten free and one of the first sushi restaurants in Israel that has brought me more than gluten free soy sauce when I ask for sauces. Nearly the entire menu could be made gluten free and the staff was well educated and accommodating. Everytime they brought a dish they would clarify it was gluten free without me asking which made me feel super at ease.
We loved everything but the Shake Yaki salmon is a can’t miss. And don’t skip out on dessert, no matter how full you are.
They have two locations one in Herzilya and one in Caesarea.
The restaurant is kosher and the teudat kashrut is at the end of the video.
