Once upon a time, Tel Aviv really was the hotspot for gluten free and celiac safe food. But over the years, Jerusalem has quietly taken over with incredible fully gluten free and/or celiac friendly spots that are genuinely worth planning a trip around. As a celiac who also lived in Jerusalem for eight years, these are the places I would go based on occasion with real addresses so you can actually use this list.
Family Dinner
Tacos Luis
Queen Shlomziyon Street 11, Jerusalem, Israel
For a relaxed family dinner that still feels special, Tacos Luis is always my first choice. I always order the Luis Special along with their lemon chia drink. One of the owner’s sons is celiac, so the staff is extremely knowledgeable and nearly the entire menu is gluten free.
Average price per person: 70–100 NIS
Kashrut: Tzohar
Anniversary Dinner
The Eucalyptus
Felt Street 14, Jerusalem, Israel
For an anniversary or a special night out, The Eucalyptus is the perfect choice. You really cannot go wrong here, but the tasting menu is the best way to experience everything they do well while accommodating gluten free diners. They can do that tasting dinner gluten free and even gluten free vegetarian!
Average price per person: 250–350 NIS
Kashrut: Rabbanut
Quick Lunch on a Budget
Chipsland
Natan Strauss Street 3, Jerusalem, Israel
A fully gluten free falafel spot with homemade laffa that is perfect for a quick and affordable lunch. There is no Instagram presence, but you can find him on the corner of Strauss and Yafo for now. With all the construction in the area, he is currently looking for a new permanent location so be sure to call and make sure he is open before visiting.
Average price per person: 30–45 NIS
Kashrut: Badatz
Girls’ Night Out
KAZZE Jerusalem
Bezalel Street 7, Jerusalem, Israel
A fully gluten free restaurant in the heart of Jerusalem serving excellent pizza, pasta, and more. I recommend you grab a loaf of bread to take home. They are so good that we had them cater our wedding.
Average price per person: 90–130 NIS
Kashrut: Tzohar
Birthday Brunch
Kumkum Tea House
Beit Lehem Road 23, Jerusalem, Israel
If you are celebrating something and looking for a fun, unique Bruch option, order the gluten free tea tower. The gluten free scones here are some of the best in Israel and make this spot perfect for a birthday brunch.
Average price per person: 120–160 NIS
Kashrut: Tzohar
Friends Dinner
Mojo Pizza
Ben Yehuda Street 5, Jerusalem, Israel
If you are looking for a fun, social spot to go with friends, Mojo is a great option. I personally have not tried their gluten free pizza yet, but it came highly highly recommended to me by many people on Instagram and is now at the very top of my list to try. Multiple celiacs have shared that their gluten free pizza is excellent and that the staff takes gluten free preparation seriously.
Average price per person: 80–120 NIS
Kashrut: Rabbanut
Ice Cream
Mousseline Jerusalem
HaArmonim Street 2, Jerusalem
Additional location at HaNasi Street 10, Jerusalem
Ask them to scoop fresh ice cream from the back and do not skip the basil ice cream. It is unexpected and unforgettable.
Average price per person: 15–30 NIS
Kashrut: Mehadrin
Coffee and a Snack
Metaphora Art Cafe
Jaffa Street 31, Jerusalem, Israel
This is my home away from home in Jerusalem. It is the best place to sit, take a break from the day, and enjoy a cafe freddo or a gluten free sweet treat.
Average price per person: 30–55 NIS
Kashrut: Tzohar

Send this to the celiac in your life and make sure to save it for your next trip to Jerusalem. The gluten free food scene in Jerusalem is genuinely excellent.

I'm Jazzie, a 20 something wannabe globetrotter with Celiac Disease. Living in Israel and navigating being gluten free is no easy task, so I created TheIsraelBites to provide English speakers with information about surviving Celiac Disease in the Middle East.
